Parents, students and staff needed to provide input on school climate

affThe Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is conducting a series of school climate surveys for students (grades 5 – 12), instructional and non-instructional staff, and parents.

Beginning February 16, parents and staff will receive e-mails providing the survey’s web address and access information. Participation in this survey is very important to the school district.

This is an opportunity for families, students and staff to share their perspectives on the safety, environment, and engagement at their schools. The school climate survey is replacing three separate surveys conducted in previous years, including the parent opinion survey, and results will be used to assist in program planning, policy-making efforts, and addressing the strategic goals of the school board. The results will also be evaluated to produce a public report.

The survey is expected to take approximately 20 minutes and responses are kept confidential.

The U.S. Department of Education’s School Climate Surveys (EDSCLS) allow the district and schools to collect and act on reliable, nationally-validated school climate data. The surveys can help evaluate the accomplishments of the district’s mission to provide an excellent, equitable education in a safe, supportive environment.
