Subject: FNSBSD and Fairbanks Principals Association Tentative Agreement

FAIRBANKS - The District and Fairbanks Principals Association (FPA) were able to reach a tentative agreement to conclude the bargaining process on Monday, May 23, 2022. The teams have been in negotiations since February, and met for six negotiation sessions. Grant Guy, principal of Woodriver Elementary School, served as the chief spokesperson for FPA. Ivory McDaniel-Ilgenfritz, executive director of human resources, served as the chief spokesperson for the District.  

FPA will present the tentative agreement to their membership for ratification today. The tentative agreement will be presented to the Board of Education for ratification on June 7, 2022. Upon ratification, the collective bargaining agreement between the District and FPA will be in effect July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2024.

Highlights of the two year agreement include:

  • Step increase 
  • 0% salary increase 2022-2023
  • 1% salary increase 2023-2024
  • Non-recurring payment $1000 payable by December 2022
  • No changes to current health plan
  • 403 b 1% match

We are extremely pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with FPA, as we work closely together to oversee and manage the District. Our close working relationship allowed for an agreement to be reached that reflected priorities on both sides, but recognized the financial difficulties within the District and the less than adequate increase to the Base Student Allocation by the state legislature.
