FAIRBANKS– The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is pleased to announce that Grant Guy has been selected as the interim Principal of North Pole High School starting the 2024-25 school year.

A product of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, Grant Guy attended Nordale and Weller elementary schools before going to Tanana Middle School and graduating from Lathrop High School. His first job with the district was as a substitute custodian in 1997, and he worked summer grounds crews while attending UAF. His career as an educator took off in Marshall, Alaska, a small Yup’ik Eskimo village on the Yukon River where he taught 7th through 12th grade, “everything,” and then later became the principal. Returning with his family to Fairbanks in 2011, Grant stepped into the role of Principal at Woodriver Elementary School where he has been successfully leading the Wolf Pups for the last 13 years. During his tenure with the district, Grant has served as President of the Fairbanks Principals Association twice and was named Elementary Principal of the Year in 2019.

“Never one to shy away from responsibility or the chance to make a difference, Grant has accepted the call to guide North Pole High School during this important transitionary year,” said Superintendent Dr. Meinert. “I have confidence in Grant’s ability to build a community and make the kind of connections that will bond students and faculty together with a shared purpose. North Pole needs a proven leader with a record of excellence to guide them through this important year, and Grant Guy is my number one pick for this mission.”

Principal Guy shared, “Like many of the families transitioning from Eielson, I am excited to build relationships with the staff and community of North Pole High School. I will continue the excellent leadership provided by Mrs. Spillane and the North Pole High School team of educators to our community.”
