The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is pleased to announce Petra Timmons as the permanent Principal for Anne Wien Elementary School starting the 2023-24 school year.
Petra has served at multiple FNSBSD schools during her 17 years with the district, starting at North Pole High School as a Spanish teacher before beginning her administrative leadership as an Interim Assistant Principal for two years, first at North Pole High and then at Lathrop High School. In 2011, Petra was hired as Assistant Principal at Lathrop High where she served until 2014. After Lathrop she moved over to Ryan Middle School to serve as Assistant Principal. Petra was named Region 6 Assistant Principal of the Year in 2018, due in large part to her ability to connect with students and build relationships with families. For the 2022-23 school year, Petra has served as Interim Principal at Anne Wien Elementary.
“Petra has dedicated many years to the district and I am looking forward to the great things she will bring to this work,” said Karen Melin, Chief School Administrator.
Principal Timmons shared, “I feel a sense of pride and honor to be taking the leadership position at Anne Wien Elementary School, and continuing to build relationships with staff, students, and families.”
