Subject: North Pole Elementary School Interim Principal Selected For 2023-24 School Year
FAIRBANKS–The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is pleased to announce that Linda Kang has been selected as the Interim Principal of North Pole Elementary School beginning with the 2023-24 school year.
Linda has been an educator since 1992, when she started teaching fifth grade with Teach For America in Louisiana at the age of 20. From there she taught in downtown Los Angeles at a visual and performing arts magnet school and earned her master’s degree at University of California, Los Angeles, before moving to Alaska in 1997. In Alaska, she taught multi-age elementary and secondary courses in Venetie for a year. For the last twenty-four years, Linda has dedicated her career to Fairbanks schools as a teacher at University Park Elementary, Barnette (original elementary and Magnet), and Tanana Middle School; principal at Salcha Elementary for two years, Arctic Light Elementary Assistant Principal for a year, and Assistant Principal at Lathrop High School since 2017.
“Linda will bring a deep and wide set of skills as Interim Principal at North Pole Elementary,” said Karen Melin, Chief School Administrator. “Her experience as an elementary classroom teacher and as a building leader will serve her well in this new opportunity.”
Principal Linda shared, “It’s an honor to be appointed as Interim Principal of North Pole Elementary. I’m excited to see the vibrant young faces of students every day and to partner with families and the North Pole community next school year. I look forward to working with a phenomenal staff that cares deeply about the growth and success of their students. All my heart and energy will be invested in North Pole Elementary’s school concepts of kindness, community, and critical thinking. Go Huskies!"
