Parent Input Needed for Teacher Evaluations
October 25, 2018
As part of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District's teacher evaluation process, the district would like your input on the performance of your child's teacher(s). The form used for your input has been developed by a committee comprised of parents, teachers, principals, board members, and district administrators to give you an opportunity to share information as to how well a teacher is meeting expected standards of performance.
We ask that you take a few minutes to think about your child's teacher(s) and either respond online through the PowerSchool parent portal or by hard copy. If you are the parent of a secondary student, please complete an input form for each of your child's first semester teachers. If you are an elementary parent you may complete a form for your child’s core subject area teacher(s), as well as provide input on the performance of other certificated staff such as elementary music and physical education teachers. Input forms are available to be downloaded at the district’s web page at www.k12northstar.org/evaluations. Additional forms are available at each school. Forms not submitted online may be returned to the school principal in a sealed envelope.
The district also welcomes input on the performance of principals, counselors, and other administrators. These input forms for providing feedback on an administrator’s performance may be obtained from any school, the human resources office, or the web page noted above.
Please take the time to provide feedback to us about how we are performing. Parent input received before January 11, 2019 will be considered during the teacher’s annual evaluation. Information received after that date is still welcome and will be reviewed by the principal. Information you provide will assist principals in making fair and informed assessments on the performance of teachers and will contribute to the improvement of instruction in our district. Thank you for your assistance.
