Emergency Communications TEST | October 13, 2023
Date: October 13, 2023
Subject: Emergency Communications TEST
This notice is part of a districtwide emergency communications test we are conducting today. Messages were sent out via email, text message, and automated phone call.
These are the methods we have available to alert you directly in an emergency situation. If you did not receive our test messages in all the ways you want, please take steps to ensure your contact information is up-to-date.
In the event that school is canceled or a delayed start is implemented, usually in response to weather events, we will use all of these methods and post notices on the website and an audio message on the district’s main phone number 907-452-2000. In these situations, we also send an announcement out to local news outlets and share the message on our Facebook account.
In the event that safety measures are activated at a location during the school day, such as all exterior doors of a school being locked in response to nearby law enforcement activity, we will send out notices to parents/guardians during the security event by text message and email. Once these situations are resolved, your school principal will follow up with more detailed communication via phone call and/or email.
Contact information for parents/guardians can be viewed and edited in PowerSchool. Once you log in, look for Demographic Information in the Registration section. Your school office can help you get your PowerSchool parent/guardian account set up. District staff can review their information in Employee Self Service (ESS) and update with Human Resources with the employee information change form.
If you have further questions about receiving emergency messages from the district, please work with your school office staff or contact Joshua DuVall, Director of Communications, at joshua.duvall@k12northstar.org or 452-2000 ext.11438.
