Salcha Elementary just had the best brain break before the next round of testing ever! During the week of April 9-13, Salcha students had the opportunity to learn dance with Elizabeth Parr. Ms. Parr’s residency is part of the Fairbanks Arts and Cultural Education (FACE) program. We began each morning with a whole school BrainDance to get our minds ready and focused for the day. Each class received daily instruction from Ms. Parr dancing to variations of Vivaldi’s “Spring”. The routines were different for each class and showcased developmental abilities of each group.
We tied all of this brain research into a Title I Family Night. Each family received a Kagan Brain-Based Learning smart card that gives ideas about how to grow a healthy brain. Salcha also used this dance to get our minds and bodies prepared for this week’s PEAKS testing. Healthy minds and healthy bodies grow at Salcha!
