How Loud Should My Intercom Speaker Be?

The intercom is used to relay information to a large group quickly. The information may be as simple as a notifying a student who has a message waiting at the office or a more critical announcement such as an ALICE or Lockdown notification.  The intercom should be loud enough that the pre-alert tone will be heard above the ambient noise in the classroom and audibly interrupts classroom activity. An intercom page may contain Life/Safety information making it important to stop and listen attentively. Please contact Facilities Maintenance Department with any questions or comments.
