The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is pleased to announce Emperatriz Stephanie Milner as the Principal for Midnight Sun Elementary School starting the 2023-24 school year.
Being an educator runs in Emperatriz Milner’s family. Her mother, an immigrant to the United States, was a primary grades teacher in Colombia, South America. Emperatriz, who also goes by her middle name Stephanie for ease, was a teacher for twelve years and a building administrator for the past four years. Emperatriz began her journey as a bilingual elementary teacher in Texas. She has been an educator in Texas, United Arab Emirates, Colorado, and for the past eight years in Alaska. She received her M.Ed in Educational Administration in 2018, became an Assistant Principal in Point Hope, Alaska in 2019, and has been a building principal for the past three years. She holds her Alaskan Elementary teaching credentials, a Graduate Certificate in Special Education, and her K-12 principal credentials.
Emperatriz and her family relocated from Colorado to Alaska in 2015, and hasn’t looked back. She is pleased to make North Pole her home and thrilled to join Fairbanks School District as an educator.

Principal Emperatiz shared, “It is truly a privilege and an honor to join the Midnight Sun Elementary team as Principal of such a wonderful school. I look forward to getting to know and serve the students, staff, and families of Midnight Sun Elementary. We will work together to ensure that Midnight Sun continues being an inclusive, supportive, and excellent learning community for all. Let’s go Brown Bears!”
