Central Kitchen Production Facilities, Nutrition Services, prepares school meals for the FNSBSD elementary schools and some items for the secondary schools. The elementary menu is a three-week cycle menu which is color coded. The secondary menu is a three-week cycle menu also color coded.
The elementary meals offer a variety of 30 different entrees providing students two different choices each day - over the three week cycle - we meet or exceed the standard of menu items offered! Nutrition Services implements an offer versus serve (OVS) process in our meal program. USDA's Economic Research Service (ERS) study indicated that offering student choices decreases plate waste and supports more efficient program operations. OVS encourages children to make selections of the foods preferred. The following photos are of various elementary entrees and cold packs offered in our district.
