Welcome to the Nordale Library

  • Information About Nordale Elementary Library

Every student in the school, kindergarten through grade 6, comes to the library every week for 30 minutes.  Library time includes a story or brief library lesson for the first 15 minutes and checking out books for the second half of the period.  Preschool classes also come to the library once a week, but instead of checking out books, they have a story with fingerplays and songs and then look at books.  The library supports the curriculum for student research, as well as having books to interest the students in reading for pleasure.  My goal is for all of our students to become lifelong readers and learners.

Have a great summer and keep reading!

The Alaska Battle of the Books has posted tentative book lists for next school year.  I hope many of you will participate in Battle of the Books and it doesn't hurt to start reading now.  Those book lists make great summer reading lists.  Go to the Battle of the Books website to see the tentative lists or check with Mrs. Binkley in the library for a paper list.

Lunch Out Loud Book Groups are finished for the school year.  Sadly, we didn't get to finish our books, but remember students those books are available at the public library and Wonder is also available on Overdrive in ebook form.  I hope you find great books to read all summer!
