About the Library
Each grade K-6 visits the library once a week for forty minutes. In that forty minutes the first half is typically spent on a lesson that deals with reading, resources or research to bolster library, reading and media literacy. Kindergardenters and first graders are allowed to checkout one book. Second and third graders are allowed to checkout two books during their library time. Fourth, fifth and sixth graders are allowed to checkout three books. Books may be kept for two weeks, and longer if they are renewed. If your student has a fine you have a question about, feel free to contact me anytime. I am also on Class Dojo! So a message can also be sent there. Feel free to contact the library with any questions or concerns.
During the month of November third, fourth, fifth and sixth graders will be working on making their own podcasts and using library resources to make their podcasts informative and correct! Once they are finished they will be available to listen to, if requested. So stay tuned!
Novemember 1st is National Family Literacy Day! Parents, guardians and family are invited to the library to read to their children and use the library space until 5:30.
We are having a great year in the library so far, I can't wait to see where the year takes us. The library is a safe space for all students to learn, explore and research. We will continue to work together to make the library a better place and get the most out of all the resources in it!
Libraries allow children to ask questions about the world and find the answers. And the wonderful thing is that once a child learns to use a library, the doors to learning are always open.–Laura Bush
