Dear Barnette Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful summer enjoying the outdoors and time with your family! As the
school year is starting up I know we are all wanting to get our plans in place for after school. As
you may know we did lose several of our regular staff and we are currently searching for new
staff to get things up and running!

For families new to Barnette’s After School Program (ASP) I wanted to share with you how we
enroll and how our program is different from the other programs in the district. Barnette is the
only ASP that is entirely funded through our program fees. Our program is not grant funded
which gives us a bit more flexibility in programing and structure. As program coordinator, this is
my first Fall start and I’m still learning and working on improving the program to make it meet the
needs of our students and parents.

Our program is a “first come first serve” program. When we are fully staffed and ready to roll we
will post a registration date. When we have a registration date it will be posted on the Barnette
Magnet Facebook page, in the BLAST newsletter and on our website. Enrollment forms will only
be accepted at the front office starting at 8am on the registration date. We do registration this
way so that forms are time stamped and can be processed fairly. Once your student is enrolled
in first quarter ASP they can automatically be rolled into the second quarter as well. We will
repeat the first come first serve enrollment process for the third quarter with automatic roll into
the fourth quarter.

Enrollment forms for students can be found on the Barnette Magnet School website under the
“Our School” menu After School Program tab. Students new to the program will need an ASP
Enrollment Form and all students will need an Emergency Consent Form submitted for the year.
We will not have a current ASP Commitment Form posted until we have an official start date for
the year.
