About Us

Our school is named for Major Rudolph Anderson Jr., an Air Force pilot who was shot down over Cuba on October 27, 1962. Major Anderson was the first U2 pilot to photograph secret missile sites in Cuba, and he was the only American killed during the Cuban Missile Crisis. We are proud to honor this American hero by bearing his name.
Anderson Elementary School was built in 1963, with the opening ceremony taking place on January 20, 1964. Originally, the school housed only first and second grade students, although kindergarten was soon added. The building you see today was remodeled in 1994.
