    A local high school is changing the way it runs its student admission lottery system.

  • Hutchison High, a career and technical school, eases selection standards

    Hutchison High School is relaxing its application criteria. Starting in 2019, the school will no longer give extra weight to students with good grades and good attendance. Applicants also no longer will be required to submit letters of recommendation. All students who apply will have an equal chance to get in. Students will be chosen in a lottery, solely by chance. The goal is to reduce barriers to admission for students looking for a career and technical education, according to Robyn Taylor, school principal.

  • Anne Frank Pop-up Exhibition comes to Fairbanks, teaches kids

    Local high school students have been given the opportunity to learn more about the life of Anne Frank in a unique travelling exhibit. The Anne Frank Pop-up Exhibition is being presented in both high school and home school settings by the Anne Frank House and the Consulate General of the Netherlands in collaboration with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District.
