Miss Tabitha Ellis, 3rd Grade Teacher

My name is Tabitha Lathrop Ellis. I was born and raised in the Fairbanks area, and I attended Crawford Elementary as a child! I also lived in Utah and Nevada as a young adult. I have been married for five years. My husband and I hope to someday welcome children into our home.

I consider my Alaskan childhood to be a great blessing because of the many opportunities I have had to explore the majestic beauty of this great state. Seeing the wonders of Alaska has led me to truly appreciate nature. The ability to explore and appreciate the world around us is a gift that I would like to pass on to children.

When I lived in Las Vegas, I had the opportunity to learn Spanish as I worked among the Spanish-speaking population. I developed a deeper appreciation for the culture of many Spanish-speaking countries. I try to practice using written and oral Spanish so that I can better understand this beautiful language. I hope to be able to use my language skills to help Spanish-speaking individuals in the community. ¡Bienvenido a nuestra escuela!

I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of childcare and school district tutoring positions. I earned an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education in 2017 and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2020. I have enjoyed learning about different programs and educational philosophies through my studies. I hope to be able to incorporate creativity, movement, and exploration into my daily activities as a teacher. I am looking forward to working with children and families this year!
