I am thrilled to have your child in my sixth grade classroom this year! This year is my first year at Crawford Elementary and my first-year teaching sixth grade. I live on Fort Wainwright with my husband, and we have been stationed here in Alaska since 2017. My husband and I are from a small town in Southern Illinois called Nashville. I went to the same school kindergarten through high school in my small community. I then attended the University of Southern Indiana, in Evansville, Indiana, and I transferred to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2018. I graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks May 2019 with my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. I plan to start working on my graduate degree within the next year. I have a strong passion for personalized learning. In my classroom you can expect your child to have a lot of choice in day to day things and big projects. Students often get to choose the novel they want to study, where they want to sit, and projects they would like to work on. Students will also practice collecting data this year. Students will have their own data binders to track their own progress. I am so lucky to be your child’s sixth grade teacher!
