Mentor Teachers

  • A Mentor Teacher supports Teachers by:

    • providing non-evaluative collaboration in core curriculum areas
    • providing short and long term instructional planning
    • assists with organization, classroom and time management
    • supporting PLC's
    • modeling, observing, and co-teaching lessons
    • being a resource for materials and research-based practices
    • providing formative assessments
    • providing differentiation strategies
    • providing conceptual foundations with mathematical principles
    • and supporting teachers in transitioning to the new Alaska Standards in math and literacy

    A Mentor Teacher supports Principals by:

    • providing professional development at staff meetings
    • facilitating workshops
    • providing credit classes
    • and facilitating book study groups
