  • New Online Resource for Learning Extensions!

Posted by JODY DEMIENTIEFF on 3/31/2020 1:00:00 AM

    Dear families,

I hope that you had a successful first day "back" to school.  If you were not able to get your Distance-Delivery pack yesterday, you can go to Weller 11:15-1:30.  Please call 457-1629, and the office will bring your bag out.  No one is allowed in the building.

I found an online resource with daily lesson plans connected to some of the best resources I have seen-and it is FREE!

wideopenschool.org. Look at me!  I even "hyperlinked" for you!  Just click!

    click "We're a family"
    click "Grades Pre-K-5"
    click "Daily Schedule"
    click "K-2"

I truly think this incredible.  There is even a "Get Started Learning at Home" page with great ideas!

I am planning a Zoom meeting this Friday at 10:00.  We will get to see each other on computer screen!  I will send directions and a code later in the week.  My hope is to check in with everyone and do Nettie's Star of the Week sharing of why she is nice and kind.

    Love,
    Mrs. Demientieff

    Dear Families,

I hope you are all doing well.  I miss you all so very much.  I have enjoyed reading the e-mails from the students so much!

I have made 2 groups of plans for you to use-

Group 1-"You want me to do what?"-this is for everyone to do.  The children can probably do most of this on their own, with just a little help and signing off what was complete by you.  Your child has a package that includes everything you should need to complete this without internet.  The lesson plans have a place on each assignment to check off that it was completed, which you can return on May 1st for me to grade.  It will be an honor system, and you do not need to send the work back to me.  If you need my help, you can call me at 451-8568 (not a cell), or jody.demientieff@k12northstar.org,between 8 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday.  I have it set up so that you will only need to go to Weller one time, this Monday (March 30), to pick up this pack, between 11 AM- 3 PM.  You will not need to go back until May 1.  People are not allowed in the building, so it will be somewhat of a drive up system, with your pack outside the school.

In making our plans for the month of April, I tried to make them as clear and concise as possible.  Mrs. Weckesser prepared the bags of materials and your child's supply box, a book from my classroom library, gym shoes, and cubby items, along with the next 5 weeks of lesson plans from me.  We have been directed to keep our assignments to 30-45 minutes per day for 2nd grade, and about 15 minutes per subject.  I have a bit more in my lesson plans, but you can decide what works for you and what does not.  It is up to your family what you complete.

Group 2:"You didn't know I was a Distance-Delivery Ninja?"  This group needs to complete the Group 1 Lesson Plans, but can also choose to do extension activities.  These are completely optional.  They will range from using the online content from the FNSBSD recommended materials, to playing educational online games, and hands on science experiment ideas. Mrs. Weckesser put the 1st week of ideas in the pack.

To access the learning apps, your child needs to go to FNSBSD website, on the right side is a tab labeled "classlink".  This should bring them to their "backpack" with internet links.

    Google username: s(student/lunch#)@student.k12northstar.org

    Google password: s(student/lunch#)g@student.k12.northstar.org

I will e-mail information and new ideas on Monday mornings to correspond with the lesson plans for that week.

This is all new for all of us.  We can work through it together.  I am here to coach you as much as you need.

  • Yes! It is true! Friday, March 6, 2020 is PJ DAY!

Posted by JODY DEMIENTIEFF on 3/5/2020 1:00:00 AM

Your child can wear PJs appropriate for school and bring a stuffed animal-please no blankets or pillows.

Don't like to wear PJs?  It is also Hockey Jersey Day!

    School ends at 1:30!

The children earned a celebration by filling the "Warm Fuzzy" bucket with compliments and good choices-especially on the field trip!  We will get popcorn for participating in the "Coins for Corn" for the playground to help us celebrate!  Thank you to those that donated!  We counted $53.74 as of Wednesday!  The new playground equipment looks AMAZING!
