Free Online Resources for Parents and Students

The school district’s Library Media Services department maintains a long list of subscriptions to online databases and homework help sites that are available to all students in the school district. This list includes Discovery Education videos, EBSCOHost in English and Spanish, Britannica, the ABDO ebook collection, TumbleBook, BrainPOP, and many more. Just use your student’s school ID number and password, available from your school office, to log into the school district website and access Library Media’s Homework Help online resources webpage. Also, most activities from www.brainpopjr.com, the elementary student help site connected to BrainPOP, can be accessed without using a login.

Open an account in the "Destiny" database. This is the database school libraries and the Art Center use to track school District materials. A Destiny account can be opened either by the Art Center or by Library Media Services, located on the second floor of the school district Administrative Building, 520 Fifth Avenue in Fairbanks, 8 am - 4:30 pm weekdays.

Come to one of the new Homeschool Fridays at the Art Center, held every Friday, 12 noon - 2 pm, to find available kits. The Art Center is located inside Ryan Middle School, rooms 32 and 29, 951 Airport Way (next to Cowles). All visitors need to stop by the school's main office for a visitor's pass before going to the Art Center.

Check out up to two kits per week.

Return the art kits either during Homeschool Friday hours at the Art Center or anytime at Library Media Services.
