K - 5 Adopted Math Resource

This program encourages students to think critically, make connections between ideas, and explain their reasoning. Lessons are designed to meet students where they are and build on what they already know. Through meaningful activities and discussions, students learn to make sense of math and see how concepts fit together across grade levels.

Instead of memorizing steps or formulas, students engage in productive struggle—a process where they grapple with challenging problems in a supportive environment. This helps them develop perseverance and confidence in their ability to tackle new mathematical ideas.

Every lesson in i-Ready Classroom Mathematics follows a powerful routine that encourages active learning and collaboration:

• Try: Students begin by exploring a new problem or situation on their own. This step allows them to think independently and apply what they already know.
• Discuss: Next, students share their strategies and ideas with classmates. They listen to different approaches, ask questions, and learn from one another’s thinking.
• Connect: Finally, the class and teacher work together to connect students’ ideas to key mathematical concepts and efficient strategies. This helps students see how different ways of thinking lead to deeper understanding.

This routine builds strong communication skills and shows students that there’s often more than one way to solve a problem.

The curriculum aligns directly with grade-level standards and the major focus areas for each grade. Lessons are carefully sequenced so that each concept connects to previous learning, creating a solid foundation for future success in math.

• Connect math to daily life: Talk about math in cooking, shopping, sports, or travel to show that math is everywhere.
