2023 AK STAR & AK Science Reports
Timeline of AK STAR Reports
In the spring of 2023, students in grades 3-9 took the Alaska summative assessment, AK STAR, which assesses their understanding of grade level English Language Arts and Mathematics standards. The release of these reports were delayed due to a change in cut scores. In the summer of 2023, the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) met with educators from across the state to review test items. At the end of summer, this group made a recommendation for new cut scores. The State Board of Education put out the new cut scores for public comment in December through January, and then adopted the new cut scores on January 17.
Students’ 2023 AK STAR reports are now available in PowerSchool. This is not to be confused with the 2024 AK STAR tests being administered at schools in March through April. Students’ reports for the 2024 AK STAR tests will be released in September 2024.
