Although the following links can provide you with basic guidelines, additional questions should be directed to school library staff or the IT/LMS Curriculum Coordinator.

Public Performance

Annual public performance site licensing is provided for FNSBSD public schools and some charters. For more information regarding the use of feature films in the classroom and at school sponsored events, please contact the IT/LMS Coordinator at x11428. 

Statewide Library Electronic Doorway

S.L.E.D. The Statewide Library Electronic Doorway (SLED) provides Alaska students and residents access to a variety of digital resources such as Tutor.com, TumbleBooks, Alaska Digital Archives, Ebsco, and more. Clicking the link will take you directly to their site where you can begin accessing their resources.

The VariQuest Cutout Maker is an electronic die cut machine. Available dies range in size from 1” to 18” and there are over 3,800 shapes, 14 fonts, 172 collections, and 63 signs and decals to choose from in Library Media. The die-cut accepts letter (8.5 in x 11 in), legal (8.5 in x 14 in), ledger (11 in x 17 in), and ARCH B (12 in x 18 in) size paper. All patrons must provide their own cutting materials. Construction, office paper, and VariQuest Speciality Cutting Materials are the best options, some card stocks may work. Please call ahead before arriving to use any Library Media equipment.

The VariQuest Poster & Banner Maker is a scan-to-print system that takes letter (8.5 in x 11 in) and legal (8.5 in x 14 in) size pages and expands them from 23-inch to 36-inch wide posters without pixelation. Converting pages into black and white before scanning will enhance print quality. This is a one-color poster printer. Ink colors are limited current Library Media supply. The poster paper is Thermal Transfer Plus paper and can be heat laminated. The VariQuest software has the ability to design a poster from scratch with its basic text and clipart features. Please call ahead before arriving to use any Library Media equipment.

Patrons must fill out Library Media’s “Poster/Banner Log” found next to the Poster Maker, all charges will be billed to your school or department. 

There are other paper types, colors, and sizes available for purchase at VariQuest. The above prices do not apply to patrons supplying their own VariQuest paper. Please call ahead before arriving to use any Library Media equipment.

Library Media offers do-it-yourself lamination up to 25-inches wide (24-inch wide document) free-of-charge for small jobs. Schools carry the same size laminator that is available in Library Media, when possible always use your school's laminator. The laminator is available to all staff not able to access other lamination services. Large jobs may be charged to your school or department, contact Library Media for more pricing details. Please call ahead before arriving to use any Library Media equipment.

Library Media offers a do-it-yourself manually-run machine for comb binding free-of-charge. Comb binding uses round plastic spines with rings and a hole puncher that makes rectangular holes. Comb binding is not provided by Library Media, all consumable materials are the responsibility of the school or department. Please call ahead before arriving to use any Library Media equipment.
