The District does not serve as the medical provider or original source of immunization records.

Families should obtain and maintain their child’s official immunization record through their healthcare provider or clinic, which serves as the primary source of immunization documentation.

Families may also use the Docket® mobile app to view and manage immunization records that are part of the Alaska Immunization Information System. Through Docket, families may:

• View their child’s immunization history
• Download or share immunization records
• Maintain access to records for healthcare, school, or enrollment needs

If a family needs a copy of immunization information maintained within the District’s student information system, they may submit a student records request through the District’s established records request process.

Health Services maintains required student health documentation within the school health record system to support safe and appropriate care during the school day.

This information is used to:

• Support student health needs in the school setting
• Ensure appropriate response to health conditions or emergencies
• Maintain required health documentation
• Support communication with families and healthcare providers when needed

Student health information is accessed only by authorized Health Services personnel who require it to perform health-related responsibilities

The Health Services Department works closely with public health agencies and healthcare partners to support prevention, education, and coordinated response to health concerns that may impact school communities.

This collaboration may include:

• Health guidance related to communicable disease concerns
• Support during increased illness activity
• Coordination for reportable infectious diseases
• Prevention recommendations based on current public health information

When a health concern is identified in a school setting, Health Services works with school staff and public health partners as appropriate to support a safe and healthy learning environment.

This may include:

• Monitoring health trends within a school
• Providing prevention and health guidance
• Supporting hygiene and cleaning practices
• Sharing health information when appropriate

Response measures may vary depending on the situation and current public health guidance

Families play an important role in supporting healthy school environments. Prevention strategies include:

• Keeping students home when they are sick
• Encouraging frequent handwashing
• Teaching respiratory etiquette (covering coughs and sneezes)
• Avoiding sharing food, drinks, or personal items
• Staying connected with healthcare providers for concerns
