Students and families are invited to attend Secondary Showcase: North Star Futures, an evening designed to help students in grades 8–11 explore opportunities, make plans for high school success, and prepare for life after graduation. The event will include informational sessions, school and program tables, and opportunities to connect with district staff and community partners.

Who should attend:

This event is designed for:

  • Current 8th–11th grade students
  • Parents and guardians
  • Families interested in learning more about secondary opportunities in FNSBSD, including students who do not currently attend an FNSBSD school

What to expect

At North Star Futures, students and families can:

  • Learn about earning credits toward graduation
  • Explore postsecondary planning tools and scholarship information
  • Discover sports, clubs, and student activities
  • Learn about eligibility requirements for participation
  • Understand IEP and 504 supports in high school and after graduation
  • Visit tables from schools, district departments, and community partners
  • Connect with staff about summer learning, CTE, dual enrollment, activities, and more

Win a $1,500 Scholarship!

This event is sponsored by the Alaska 529 Education Savings Plan. Students who complete activities during the event will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a $1,500 scholarship.
