Option 2: Balanced Approach

In this option, the boundaries of Fairbanks elementary schools are redrawn to better balance student populations across schools, bringing them closer to the average capacity for the area. The updated boundaries also create a clear feeder pattern, ensuring that each elementary school feeds into a single middle and high school without splits. While this approach impacts more students (approximately 956 students), it helps create long-term stability and alignment across grade levels.

Student Movement

Anne Wien Elementary will have 99 students move to Ladd Elementary.

Denali Elementary will have 6 students move to Anne Wien Elementary.

Ladd Elementary will have 97 students move to Arctic Light Elementary.

Pearl Creek Elementary students will move to Anne Wien Elementary (128 students), University Park Elementary (158 students), and Weller Elementary (4 students).

University Park Elementary will have 19 students move to Denali Elementary, 22 students move to Hunter Elementary, and 33 students move to Woodriver Elementary.

Weller Elementary will have 36 students move to Ladd Elementary.

In Fairbanks, at the middle school level:

Randy Smith Middle will have 25 students move to Ryan Middle.

Ryan Middle will have 16 students move to Randy Smith Middle.

There is no change from option 1 for North Pole area students:

Midnight Sun Elementary students will move to North Pole Elementary (127 students) and Ticasuk Brown Elementary (103 students).

Two Rivers Elementary students will move to Weller Elementary (33 students). Grades 6-8 students will move to North Pole Middle.

School Capacities

Elementary - Middle - High Flow

All Elementaries would flow to a single middle and high school, with no splits except for Weller Elementary. Weller would have students from the Two Rivers area attending North Pole secondary schools.
