Process & Timeline

(Spring 2024 - Now)

Last spring, we gathered input from families, staff, and community members through surveys and focus groups to identify needs and priorities. Additional input was gathered through focus groups in October.

• 3,182 students, parents/guardians, community members, teachers, staff members, administrators, and board members completed the strategic planning survey
• 150+ constituents participated in focus groups
• 26 focus groups were conducted
• 5 focus groups prioritized representation from specific subgroup demographics
• 1 focus group was conducted with high school students

Top Considerations from Survey Responses

• 39% of respondents felt the cost of maintaining the school should be the top consideration when deciding to close a school
• 43% of respondents felt enrollment numbers should be the top consideration when deciding to close a school
• 47% of respondents felt the impact on disadvantaged students should be the top consideration when deciding to close a school 
• 48% of respondents felt the condition of school facilities should be the top consideration when deciding to close a school

(August - November 2024)

The community facility team reviewed survey and focus group feedback to determine educational direction and to craft the school consolidation framework. The team included staff, parents, students, and community members. 

(November - December 2024)

Currently, district administration is working through the school consolidation framework to determine a recommended plan to present to the school board

(January - February 2025)

The school board will review the recommended plan, consider public testimony, and make the final decision on school consolidation.

(February - June 2025)

If consolidations are approved, the district will work closely with impacted school communities to ensure a smooth and supportive transition.
