North Star College
North Star College is a middle college partnership with FNSBSD & UAF. All current FNSBSD juniors, on track for graduation and interested in pursuing college coursework in their senior year, are invited to apply to North Star College during the application period. Participating students will have the opportunity to earn 7 - 15 transcripted, college credits that will apply towards FNSBSD graduation requirements!
Earning college credits through North Star College is free for FNSBSD students, although some miscellaneous fees may apply. Students will remain eligible for student activities at their attendance area school. District transportation is available on a limited basis.
The minimum GPA for acceptance into North Star College is 2.5. Those who meet qualifications will be selected through a random lottery process. Students who are selected are required to take the mandatory university placement exams upon admission. Students will be enrolled in pre-selected required cohort classes. They will also choose additional classes from a wide selection of courses at UAF. A district school counselor and a university academic advisor will work together to help students select appropriate classes.
