The Fairbanks Coalition Builders (FCB) team is an affiliate group of the National Coalition Builders Institute (NCBI). NCBI has been leading diversity, equity, and inclusion work for over thirty years. The NCBI skills have contributed to group healing, community building, and supporting leadership development.
To support organizations in reaching their diversity, equity, and inclusion goals, the District's Fairbanks Coalition Builders (FCB) team has developed a 3-hour interactive training. This training is a real opportunity to bring people together and deepen appreciation, empathy, and trust.
Some of the skills covered in the workshops will include:• Welcoming similarities and differences in all groups
• Examining Unconscious Bias
• Conflict Resolution
• Learning how to be an ally to all groups
• Structuring respectful dialogues on controversial issues

What is NCBI?
NCBI, or the National Coalition Building Institute, is an international leadership organization that provides training in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). NCBI offers training programs that motivate people to change their prejudicial attitudes in an innovative and positive approach not through changing people's minds but changing people's hearts.

What will participants gain from attending a FCB workshop?
The Fairbanks Coalition Builders, an NCBI Affiliate, offers a series o incremental, experiential activities that help participants:
- Celebrate their similarities and differences
- Recognize the misinformation they've learned about various groups
- Identify and heal from internalized oppression-the discrimination members of an oppressed group target at themselves and each other
- Claim pride in group identity
- Understand the personal impact of discrimination through the telling of stories
- Learn hands-on tools for dealing effectively with bigoted comments and behavior
