American Literature Materials
The FNSBSD has an established process of reviewing and adopting materials to support curriculum. In February 2020, several English/language arts samples of textbooks/materials were made available for public review and comment. The community was noticed through multiple avenues, and schools provided release time for staff to participate.
In April 2020, the School Board adopted the Into Literature (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) series for grades 7-10. Based on teacher and community responses, Teaching and Learning is recommending the adoption of Into Literature 11, the next book in the series, for high school American literature courses. A report will be presented to the School Board at the January 19 meeting, with the Board scheduled to take action on February 2, 2021 (School Board: www.k12northstar.org/Page/2658).
