Curriculum Revision Process

  •   The FNSBSD curriculum process, outlined in Administrative Regulations 910 Appendix A, is on a six-year cycle and includes the following stages:  research and review, develop and define, implement, and measure-refine-revise.  The research and review stage begins with community input, and a research group meets to complete an in-depth study of the current curriculum to determine its effectiveness, research current trends in curriculum content and pedagogy, and to begin developing competencies.  Then, during the develop and define stage, curriculum writers review this work and start draft one.  Each draft goes out for public comment and the writers review and consider all comments and suggestions.  After there is a general consensus on the curriculum proposal, a final draft is submitted to the Board Curriculum Committee for a recommendation and the School Board for adoption.

    2021-22 Develop & Define Stage 

    During the 2019-20 school year, curriculum groups began the research and review stage for the following curricula: 

    • K-12 Mathematics
    • Career and Technical Education (CTE) Information Technology. 

    Due to the need for social distancing during the 2020-21, revision of this curriculum was paused.  Starting in the fall of 2021, the FNSBSD will begin the develop and define stage for grades 7-12 Math curriculum and the Information Technology curriculum.  Draft copies of the curricula will be posted on this webpage and the community will have the opportunity to provide public comment.  

    Also during the 2021-22 school year, the district will revised the CTE Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum and the CTE Arts A-V Technology and Communications curriculum.
