2020-21 National Geography Bee
Due to COVID-19, the 2020-21 National Geography Bee is cancelled. The National Geographic Society released the following statement in September 2020: "We’ve worked diligently to respond to the needs of our community, making adjustments to provide more flexibility. But the education landscape continues to evolve. In light of these shifts, we’ve decided to cancel this year’s GeoBee and are taking the opportunity to reimagine what a geography experience for young people could look like altogether." For the full statement and additional information, visit the Geo Bee website.
Each year, thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Schools with students in grades 4-8 are eligible for this entertaining and challenging test of geographic knowledge.
At this time, students are responsible for their travel expenses to the state/national competitions. We are currently seeking sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring this event and students' travel, please contact Michelle Daml at 452-2000 ext. 11419.
