    Elementary School Grades

    A parent withdrawing a student from elementary school should contact the school to schedule a parent conference. 

    RELOCATION OUTSIDE THE DISTRICT

    Before the Last Twenty (20) Days of School

    The sending school/teacher will issue withdrawal grades to date and the student must report to the receiving school for completion of the school year. It is the parent’s responsibility to enroll the child in the new school. The receiving school has the responsibility to make the child’s placement decision regarding the next grade 

    Between the Last Twenty (20) and Eleven (11) Days of School

    The sending school/teacher will issue withdrawal grades to date and enrollment in the new school is recommended. If enrollment is not possible, then arrangements must be made for the student to take the final tests, where applicable, with the new school district. It is the parent’s responsibility to enroll the child in the new school. The receiving school has the responsibility to make the child’s placement decision regarding the next grade.

    During the Last Ten (10) Days of School

    The sending school/teacher will grant final grades by averaging grades earned to date. The sending school/teacher will recommend placement for the following year.

    Junior High/Middle School Grades

    Parents must contact the school to withdraw their student. 

    RELOCATION OUTSIDE ALASKA

    Prior to the Last Twenty (20) Days of the Grading Term or Semester

    At the time of withdrawal, grades to date will be given and the student must report to the receiving school for completion of the grading term. It is up to the receiving school to assign the grades for the term and to promote the student to the next grade, if applicable.

    Between the Last Twenty (20) and Eleven (11) Days of the Grading Term or Semester

    At the time of withdrawal, grades to date will be given and enrollment in the school is recommended.

    During the Last Ten (10) Days of the Grading Term or Semester

    Grades earned to date will be given as final grades. Recommendation for placement for the following term or school year will be made by the sending school.

    If a relocating middle school student is taking a high school class for credit and/or a class with a final exam, apply the appropriate high school regulation for that class.

    High School Grades

    No final examinations will be administered prior to the final examination schedules implemented by the Superintendent. A student who must leave school early because of family relocation will be assisted in the completion of the semester. Students who must withdraw before the end of the semester are required to have their parent/guardian contact the school for a parent/guardian conference and /or furnish military orders showing the necessity for the withdrawal. 

    RELOCATION OUTSIDE ALASKA

    Prior to the Last Twenty (20) Days of the Grading Term or Semester

    At the time of withdrawal, grades to date will be given and the student must report to the receiving school for completion of the grading term and to receive credit from the new school, if applicable. No final evaluations will be administered early.

    Between the Last Twenty and Eleven Days of the Grading Term or Semester

    At the time of withdrawal, grades to date will be given and enrollment in the new school is recommended. If reenrollment is not possible, arrangements will be made for the student to take final evaluations where applicable, with the new school district or appropriate public agency.

    During the Last Ten Days of the Grading Term or Semester

    Grades earned to date will be given as final grades and credit will be granted, where applicable.

    Withdrawal for any reason other than family relocation will result in a grade of INC (incomplete) being given for all classes. If a student withdraws and does not relocate, but returns to a school in the district, the student will be required to make up any final evaluations missed and a grade change may occur.
