Welcome to the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District!

Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD) is a military-friendly school district. We want to help make your transition in our schools as smooth as possible and provide you with up-to-date information while you are here!

With more than 12,470 students and 31 schools in the district, we educate over 3,800 military-connected students, which is 31% of the total student population (current information as of 04-4-22).

The school district has Arctic Light Elementary (Fort Wainwright: K-5th grade), Anderson Crawford Elementary (Eielson AFB: K-5th grade) and Ben Eielson Middle/Senior High School (Eielson AFB: 6th-12th grade), that are located on post and base.

The school district manages two Department of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) grants:

The school district received a STARTALK World Language grant from the National Security Agency (NSA) for students at Arctic Light Elementary, Ladd Elementary, Tanana Middle, and Ryan Middle School.

The school district received a DoD STEM grant funding STEMKAMP (Science, Education, Technology, and Mathematics for Kids of Active Military Personnel) project for Anderson-Crawford and Ben Eielson Middle School students.

Military Personnel) project. The school district works with the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) for students at Ben Eielson Senior High School and North Pole High School.

The school district supports the Child and Youth Behavioral Military & Family Counseling program, funded by the Department of Defense, where seven counselors serve five elementary schools, three middle schools, and three high schools for students, families and staff.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to our military families, especially our youngest heroes-your children, our students!
