Bright Futures Fairbanks to host movie screening and panel
The Bright Futures Fairbanks Volunteer Leadership Team and the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District are hosting a free public screening and panel discussion of Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope on Friday, February 1st from 6 - 8 pm at Hunter Elementary.
Resilience chronicles the movement of trailblazers in pediatrics, education, and social welfare that are using cutting-edge science and field-tested therapies to protect children from the insidious effects of toxic stress. Viewers should leave knowing how they can promote resilience in their own family and community.
Billy Smith - Hunter Elementary After School Coordinator will welcome viewers and Heather Johnson - West Valley High School Assistant Principal will facilitate the panel discussion. Panelists will include: Lantz Dahlke - Fort Wainwright Chief of Police, Gunnar Ebbesson - Licensed Professional Counselor with Turning Point Counseling Service, Christie Herman - Case Manager with Tanana Chiefs Conference, and Mindy Swisher - Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
