Description of Course:
Introduction to Engineering is designed to introduce students to the wide array of skills needed for different engineering disciplines. In this course, we plan to cover what engineering is, the core principles of each discipline, build circuits, learn basic computer programming in C, explore simple machines, compete in a design challenge, work with Autodesk Inventor, use a 3D printer, build a LEGO robot, build an Arduino microcontroller, and much more. Students will be expected to use a process that encourages their own design and allows them to modify and refine it over time.
Andrew Slagle is originally from the Fairbanks area, has been teaching since 2014, and has been at North Pole High school since 2017. He studied math at UAF and enjoys woodworking and other tinkering in his spare time.
