Internal Posting Period

Please read the following information with regards to the upcoming voluntary transfer period. If you have questions, contact the Human Resources Department at (907) 452-2000 x11326.
Internal posting period
Openings will be posted as soon as identified on the first Monday after February 15, and on each Monday thereafter through the first Monday in May. These openings will be posted for five (5) work days. Available openings will be posted online on the Careers and Job Opportunites page. Select the Internal Job Openings button.
Per Article 401(I)(d) of the FEA Agreement, eligible FEA members must submit an internal transfer form online; letters of interest are no longer accepted. The internal posting period will end on June 30, 2017. As of July 1, postings will be external only and FEA members will not be eligible to apply.
Eligibility (FEA agreement, Article 401): A teacher must have completed two (2) years of employment with the District to be eligible for a voluntary transfer. A teacher may apply for transfer to positions posted in the second semester of a teacher’s second year of employment for the forthcoming school year. Teachers in half-time positions may apply to be reassigned to open full-time positions within the same building.
Internal openings will be posted as follows, per Article 401 of the FEA agreement:
Order of Priority
- Openings Through First Monday in April. For openings posted from the first Monday after February 15 through the first Monday in April, teachers shall be given preference for positions based on the following order of priority:
- A teacher who is eligible for a voluntary transfer or reassignment or a teacher who is involuntarily transferred or reassigned.
- Teachers on the reduction in force (RIF) list pursuant to Article 407.
- New hires.
B. Openings after the First Monday in April. For openings posted from the second Monday in April through the first Monday in May, teachers shall be given preference for positions based on the following order of priority:
- A teacher who is involuntarily transferred or reassigned.
- A teacher who is eligible for a voluntary transfer or reassignment.
- Teachers on the reduction in force (RIF) list pursuant to Article 407.
- New hires.
