Anne Wien Elementary Counselor Page
About Me: My name is Chao Zalewski, and I am thrilled to be at Anne Wien! This will be my thirteenth year in the school district but my first year as a school counselor.
I moved to Alaska in 2010 and can’t imagine myself being anywhere else. I graduated from Central Washington University with my degree in Elementary Education, and then went on to the University of Alaska Fairbanks for my graduate degree in school counseling. I have four children ages between the ages of 19 and 29. My husband and I love to go on adventures, anywhere from our backyard to across the seas.
I am looking forward to meeting every one of you this school year. I am ready to work hard, play fair, and take care of each other.
My Role: My responsibility as the school counselor is to design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes. This includes classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual meetings. In addition, I advocate and collaborate with staff, students, families, and high stakeholders to promote equity and access for all students by connecting their school counseling program to the school’s academic mission and school improvement plan.
