    Vision:

    We believe in healthy lifestyles for young people reflected in the traditional contests of Native Games

    Purpose:

    • Healthy lifestyles, positive self-esteems, & leadership skills
    • Appreciation of Alaska Native traditions
    • Good sportsmanship through friendly athletic competition
    • Cross cultural understanding

    NYO Information:

    • Senior NYO games: 7th – 12th grade
    • Students who are interested must do a sports physical
    • Student must have good standing status in their academics to join. 2.0 GPA or Higher.

    These are the results from the second half of our first Native Youth Olympics meet. Our next meet is at Effie Kokrine on March 20th from 4:30-8:30pm and March 21st from 9am-3:30pm

     

    The purpose of NYO is to influences our young people to improve academic performance, strengthen overall health and well-being, and instills important values, including leadership and respect—values that make strong communities and build tomorrow’s leaders. -CITC Website

     

    NYO is a unique competition because the people you compete against are your coaches and cheerleaders. The games also serve to help keep Alaska culture in the lives of the youth in the community.
