Introduction to Carpentry

Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center Complex, 3580 Cartwright Road.
Students MUST provide their own transportation.

Course Description:
The Introduction to the Building Trades course will provide a career exploration opportunity for students in high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand building trade occupations. Topics will include but are not limited to:
- NCCER
- OSHA 10-hour Construction Worker Safety
- Scaffold User Certification
- Fall Protection Certification
- Classification 5 Warehouse Forklift Operator Certification
- Power and Hand Tool use and safety
- Small project construction
- Industry and job site tours
Successful completion of this course can be a pathway into union apprenticeships.
Course Credit:
This will be a Pass/Fail outside credit course which will not be included in GPA calculations. There is a limit of ten students per course. Motivated students may be allowed to take two of the Introduction to the Trades courses. The final selection of student participants will be made by each Union Local instructor in conjunction with counselors and CTE Director.
