  • When organizations connect with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District, they allow schools and programs to reach beyond their immediate resources to create a stronger learning environment for students. Building student-focused partnerships leads directly to enhanced student learning and success.

    Partnership Opportunities

    Organizations may partner with:

    • One or more specific schools
    • Student groups, like a sports team or a robotics club
    • Districtwide programs, like Alaska Native Education or After School Program

    There are many ways businesses can have a direct, positive impact on students:

    • Tutor students or be a mentor
    • Share your expertise by offering field trips or job shadows
    • Participate in schoolwide activities, such as spelling bees or science fairs
    • Present in a classroom about your career or hobby

    What do schools need? 

    The following are what school principals ranked as the most needed in their school.

    Elementary Schools

    • Incentive items to reward improvements in attendance, academics, etc.
    • Volunteer tutors or homework helpers to assist students with academics
    • Funds to help purchase student technology items like tablets or computers
    • Volunteers at schoolwide events like career day, science fair, spelling bee, etc.

    Secondary Schools

    • Incentive items to reward improvements in attendance, academics, etc.
    • Guest speakers in classrooms or at special events
    • Volunteers for mock interviews, resume preparation, etc.
