  • UPDATE!!  There will be a meeting August 24 from 3-4:00pm at TVSA Gun Range.  This meeting is mandatory for all students interested in trying out, parents are welcome to stay.  All Planet HS forms and physical must be completed by the first physical practice on Thursday, August 25.

    Happy Summer!!  For those interested in trying out for the Rifle Team this year, our season starts August 24 with a meeting 3-4pm at Tanana Valley Sportsmen's Association gun range.  The season will end November 12 with MAC Regionals.

    Tryouts will be held on August 25, 26, and 29.  All tryout days are mandatory, and all students tryout even if you were on the team in previous years.  Practices and tryouts are held at Tanana Valley Sportsmen's Association across from Fred Meyer West, on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fridays from 3:00-5:00 pm, with matches most every Saturday starting September 10.  No prior experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided.

    So far we have over 40 students interested in trying out for the team.  The team will be cut to 12 students, you will need to show your best every time you are at the range.  Attitude, coachability, and enthusiasm matter more than skill during tryouts.   

    There is a $25 tryout fee that covers ammo, targets, and gear rentals. This fee is non-refundable but will be credited towards the participation fee if you make the team.  Fees should be paid directly to the front office once we are back in the building.  The participation fee for the 2022/23 season has  increased to $400 to cover the costs of materials and ammunition.  I highly encourage all students who make the team to get a sponsorship/donation letter from the front office to cover your participation fee and solicit donations from businesses and individuals, make sure their donation is designated for the rifle team and student fees can be adjusted based on donations received.  Donations can also be made to cover team expenses or to upgrade/replace equipment. If you need help covering the fee, please contact the front office.

    Any athlete wishing to tryout must have all the required forms and sports physicals completed and uploaded to PlanetHS prior to participating in tryouts.  The website requires BOTH a student account and parent/guardian account, so that forms can be electronically signed.  Students will not be allowed to participate until all forms are completed and tryouts will end August 29 and tryouts will not be extended if you do not have the physical and forms complete.
