    Welcome to another school year!

My name is Beverly Kokrine. I have been a teacher for over twenty years in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. I recently served as a School Leadership Intern at three different schools. Last year, I was the assistant principal at Arctic Light Elementary and Ticasuk Brown Elementary. I am very excited to be your principal this year! I was a teacher in this very building for 14 years. I am familiar with the community. My own children have attended school here!

I look forward to meeting more people at the Pastries for Parents on September 13, Friday. You and your child may have breakfast here starting at 8:00 A.M.

    Kelly Thrun, AP

    Greetings Fellow Ptarmigans!
I am absolutely thrilled to be your Assistant Principal for the 2019/2020 school year.  My name is Kelly Thrun and I bring to you 22 years of elementary school experience.  I am a proud Alaskan, born and raised in Nome.  I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 5th and 6th grades, parenting classes, professional development sessions, and a UAF class prior to working as an assistant principal last year at Crawford, Midnight Sun, and North Pole Elementary.  I have my AAS in Early Childhood, BA / Masters in Elementary Education and a graduate certificate in Educational Leadership.  I am the mother of three children, eldest sister of four siblings, and just celebrated my 23rd wedding anniversary to my extremely supportive husband.  I look forward to meeting each of you and figuring out what ways I can support all of the great work that you do.  See you soon!

    routine Dear Parents and Guardians:

Please be aware that we are changing our morning routine. If kids are dropped off in the morning - they are to go to the front playground (K-2) or back playground (3-5) and play until the bell rings at 9:00. There will be adults on duty outside. Please send children dressed in appropriate gear for the weather as far as we know- this is the plan for the rest of the year. If students are getting breakfast - they can continue into the building, get their food, and then go out after. Bus riders will go to the applicable playground when they are let off the bus OR get breakfast as needed.

Thanks for your flexibility! This is a new routine for us all!
