Cents for SIMs
In Salcha we are known for taking care of each other: in our families, our classrooms, in our school, and our community. Our Salcha School Student Council is asking us to extend that caring beyond ourselves to Ukrainian refugee families experiencing separation and hardship in Romania. We are wanting to give the gift of connection to families when they are unable to reach their loved ones left behind because their cell phones no longer work after crossing the border to a different country. For $7.35 USD a replacement SIM card can be purchased for a refugee family's cell phone, allowing them to contact family still in Ukraine and hopefully granting peace of mind.
You can participate in our Salcha "Cents for SIMs" fundraiser through any Mt. McKinley Bank branch by simply donating funds to the Salcha Parent Teacher Group (SPTG) account. No account number is necessary and the funds are marked as donation so that they can be tracked for transfer to our contact in Romania, former Salcha principal Annie Keep-Barnes, who is working closely with relief organizations over there through her international school. Of course you can also drop off donations here at the school or any one of our local Salcha business where donation jars have been set up. For more information, please contact the school at (907) 488-3267! Thank you for helping us help those in greater need.
