Military Opportunities

  • The Alaska Military Academy is designed to meet the life coping skills and educational needs of 16 to 18 year old Alaskans. The Academy provides a tuition-free, five month residential school environment based on the traditional military training modes. Cadets are instructed in Life Coping Skills; Educational Excellence; Skills Training; Responsible Citizenship; Leadership/Follower-ship; Health, Hygiene and Sex Education; Physical Fitness; and Community Involvement Service Projects. These skills will aid in the completion of a State of Alaska High School Diploma. For information call Angela Chapin, 374-7960 (in Fairbanks) or Troy Nicolson, 384-6015 (at Fort Richardson).

West Point Summer Leaders Seminar is a chance to see this service academy. The application is available at http://admissions.usma.edu/moreInfo/summer.cfm and college info at www.westpoint.edu The Summer Leaders Seminar is for high school juniors moving into their senior year. The weeklong program of classes, military training, physical fitness and intramural athletics gives students the opportunity to experience cadet life and to see first - hand what West Point has to offer.
