I am very happy to welcome you to the Ladd Elementary School learning community. We have many programs and activities to support your children in academics, physical fitness, music, art, and technology. We are fortunate to have a wide range of cultural diversity in families from the local area and around the world. We have approximately 60% military dependent students from Fort Wainwright and serve neighborhoods from the Fairbanks community.
Ladd Elementary School was opened in the fall of 1992. The school mascot is a leopard and the school colors are black and gold. Our student population ranges from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade with children from both the Fairbanks and Ft. Wainwright communities. We serve approximately 450 children with a staff of approximately 55 personnel working together to meet the needs of each student.
The Ladd Elementary school philosophy is that all children have the ability to learn. The Ladd staff members work together to provide each student with quality educational experiences, which nurture growth towards becoming a productive member within a diverse and changing society. Teachers and tutors utilize a variety of teaching strategies to meet individual needs. We use the Ladd Leopard "Pawsitive" Pledge to teach and redirect expectations for behaviors at Ladd. These four words (Safe, Kind, Respectful, and Responsible) are embedded into everything that we teach at Ladd. Each child is challenged to develop their unique potential, respect themselves and others, be critical thinkers and problem solvers, and view themselves as life-long learners.
Each child’s development is affected by a large variety of environmental factors. Parents, as their child’s first and most influential teachers, are vital members of the Ladd Instructional Team. We look forward to working with you.Again, WELCOME to Ladd!Additional Military Information:School Military Family Liaison: Georgia Sandgren, 907-420-2000 x 11340 georgia.sandgren@k12northstar.orgSchool Liaison Officer with Fort Wainwright: 907-361-9897 janet.e.farris2.naf@army.milMilitary Connected Students: 272Percentage of military-connected students: 61%260 Total Active MilitaryStudent Military Affiliation: 260 US Army
