Frequently Asked Questions

  • When is the library open?

During the Red Zone, the library is closed. We have yet to decide how and when the library will reopen for browsing in the safest way possible. Currently, we are offering e-books and online services through the Destiny webpage which is available to you 24/7. The librarian can be reached between 7:30am and 3:30pm Monday through Friday by email at When not in classes, you can also reach her at the school extension 31032. Voicemails can be left if she is with a class when you call. E-mail is preferable based on class schedules.

How many books can a student check out?

During the Red and Yellow Zones, we are checking out up to 3 books per student.

How do I put a book on hold?

If you visit the Destiny webpage at and log-in with your s# and password, you will have access to the catalog. Find each book by performing a simple search of title, author, subject, or series and results will be displayed. If you click on the title of a book, there will be a grey and blue button on the right-hand side of the screen that says 'Hold' and by clicking that you are sending a request to the librarian to find that book and pull it for you. If that book or every copy of that book is checked out by someone else, then when it is brought back it will be held for you. If it is a very popular book and more than one student has it on hold, priority will be given to the first person who placed the hold and so on.

For further information, there is a how-to video tutorial in the library's Google Classroom.

Once the books are placed on hold, it can be picked up at the loop drive doors on Fridays between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm.

How long do books check out for?

They are checked out for 2 weeks from the date of pick-up.

How do I return books to the library?

Library books can be returned at the loop drive doors between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm on Fridays.

How are you following the CDC and other health officials' guidelines?

Books that are pulled from the library shelves after they have been placed on hold are handled by the librarian or staff member with a mask and gloves. When books are returned, they are handled once again with a masked and gloved librarian or staff member who will quarantine the books for 72 hours before they can be given to another student.
