What is Battle of the Books?
Battle of the Books is a statewide reading motivation and comprehension program sponsored by the Alaska Association of School Librarians. The goal of the program is to improve reading and comprehension while building enthusiasm for reading using a fun and unique competition format. Students will compete in teams to demonstrate their knowledge of the preselected books.

How will the teams be formed?
Students are encouraged to form their own teams consisting of 3 members. I will help students find a team if necessary.
When will students/teams practice?
This school year we may have to be creative with our practice schedule, but Weller Whale BOOKLETES will PREVAIL!!
Study requirements:
Students are asked to keep a Battle of the Books notebook/ folder with notes about each book, author & title flashcards as well as practice questions. Students are encouraged to read the books at home so they are ready to practice/answer questions during team practices.
