Welcome to the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District!
Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD) is a military-friendly school district. We want to help make your transition in our schools as smooth as possible and provide you up-to-date information while you are here!
With more than 11,800 students and 34 campuses in the district, we educate over 3,400 military-connected students, which is 29% of the total student population (current information as of 04-02-21).
The district has three elementary schools (Anderson, Arctic Light, Crawford) and one junior/senior high school (Ben Eielson) on base and post.
The district manages three Department of Defense Education Activity grants:
The district supports the Child and Youth Behavioral Military & Family Counseling program, funded by the Department of Defense, where seven counselors serve six elementary schools, one junior/senior high school, one middle school and two high schools for students, families and staff.

Pay Fees and Fines Online With TouchBase!
TouchBase is the District’s new online payment portal for student fines and fees. InTouch Receipting and TouchBase Online Payments are part of a cutting edge software package the district has implemented to streamline the management, reporting, and accountability of your student’s financial record, as well as making it easy on our customers – the parents – to pay student fines and fees, or purchasing items - all in one portal. As a parent, this new application allows you to access your students’ account online using a computer, via your favorite mobile device, or in person, at any one of our school locations.
As a parent/customer, you’ll be able to:- Pay for fines and/or fees online
- View/print/save your student/customer ledger
- View/print/save your receipts
- Purchase items online
The online payments application – TouchBase – is accessible through PowerSchool. Sign into PowerSchool. For parents with multiple students in the district, you’ll be able to see all of your students with your one username and password. Once you’ve selected your student, the shopping experience will be specific to that student. -

FY24 Proposed Budget | February 7, 2023
Work on the fiscal year 2024 (FY24) budget is ramping up, with the school board diving into the FY24 Proposed Budget. Due to the ongoing financial challenges facing our district, we have had to make some difficult decisions regarding reductions to the district budget.

School Board Announces Superintendent Finalists | February 1, 2023
At the Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board Special Meeting on January 31, the school board announced their top four finalists for superintendent: Frank Hauser, Luke Meinert, Dr. Ryan Scallon, and Dr. Ronnie Tarchichi.

Superintendent Search Update - Upcoming Dates | January 19, 2023
The superintendent job posting closed Friday, January 13, with 21 applicants for the position. The school board and the contracted search firm, Ray & Associates, will review the candidates and narrow the list down to the top candidates.
