Meeting Access Options During COVID-19 Outbreak
While under the direction of the COVID-19 health emergency, School Board meetings will be held by teleconference for board members, district administration, and the public, as well as, live-streamed from the district’s webpage, broadcast on GCI Cable – Channel 14, and audio-recorded for next-day website posting. Additionally, Regular Meetings are broadcast through the free NPR app and broadcast live on KUAC-FM 89.9 radio from 7:00 p.m. to adjournment.
To comply with Governor Dunleavy’s social-distancing and gathering guidelines and for the safety of the public, district staff, and others, the following procedures are in place to allow citizens to continue listening and participating in meetings by submitting written comments and to testify telephonically. Community members are strongly encouraged to testify via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Testimony emailed to the School Board for a Public Hearing, Special or Regular Meeting will be read into the public record of the applicable meeting. To testify by phone, please call the school board office at 452-2000, ext. 11400 to sign-up.
How to Provide Public Testimony
The School Board encourages anyone wishing to provide Public Testimony on Non-Agenda and/or specific agenda topic(s) to email written comments to email@example.com no later than 4:00 p.m. the day of the meeting. Please indicate in the email subject line: Public Testimony. Public testimony emailed to the School Board will be read into the public record of the applicable meeting. In the email, please specify which agenda item you are providing testimony for (example: Testimony for Policy 425.1: Budget Implementation - Transfer of Funds – Second Reading). Guidelines for electronic testimony are the same as for in-person testimony - emails must include a person's first and last name and city of residence. As with in-person testimony, email, when read into the public record, will be limited to 3 minutes.
If you wish to provide testimony by phone, you are welcome to sign-up either by calling the School Board Office at (907) 452-2000, ext. 11400 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, no later than 4:00 p.m. the day of the meeting. You will need to provide your name, phone number, neighborhood or city of residence, agenda item number or topic for which you wish to provide testimony, and if emailing, please include on the subject line: Phone Testimony. When the School Board reaches your agenda item, or time for non-agenda/non-action testimony, the school board secretary will phone you at the number you have provided. You will have three minutes to provide testimony. Early sign-up is encouraged.

How to Listen and View School Board Meetings
Teleconference information and a call in number will be provided for each meeting, published with the agenda, for community members who would like to participate by computer and/or listen by telephone. Agendas, supporting documents, and archived meetings, can be accessed through BoardDocs.

The ten-member School Board is comprised of seven, elected officials, each elected at-large, for three-year staggered terms, along with one representative from Fort Wainwright Army Post, Eielson Air Force Base, and Regional Student Council whom serve as advisory members.
